>>>I use these two assignments together as an alternative to an Exploratory Essay. The purpose is still the same, for students to find a topic they are interested, an argument to make about that topic, and sources to use in making that argument.
>>>I still have students write a traditional annotated bibliography, especially because I require a Lit Review section in their Final Argumentative Research Papers, but I have added the dialogue as a way for students to position their claim amongst their sources.

>> This is really just a more creative spin on a traditional Literature Review or Annotated Biblipgraphy. I have asked students to act out their Dialogues before as part of a final project, to get the rest of us familiar with the context and the complexities of an argument. I find that students get really creative in meaningful ways with this assignment.
